The new 'Crush' EP is a lot of exploration for Sam Valdez, "the songwriting became a way to escape from the darker headspace I was in while writing it. I talk about friendship, sexuality, and thinking about life on other planets. It was a way to get out of my typical thoughts and expectations and fantasize." Crush was made in collaboration and produced by Grammy nominated Gianluca Buccellati (Arlo Parks, The Marias, Biig Piig, Lana Del Rey).

Sam Valdez’s blend of shoegaze and lo-fi indie rock provides an evocative backdrop for her reflective songs about a childhood growing up in the glare and space of Las Vegas, Nevada. Echoes of formative musical experiences as a child violinist, and the mystery, beauty, and haunting quality of desert life can be heard in the music of the now Los Angeles native, who displays a knack for dreamy textures, and a flair for abstract but emotive lyrics. Classical music’s force has informed her potent and sweeping arrangements, and cinematic sense of dynamics.
